Dear Primary Families,

It has been a fantastic and energetic Book Week across the Primary School, with a wide range of activities bringing reading to life for our students.

Throughout the week, students took part in a variety of themed events, including the daily “Where’s Wally?” hunt at recess, where students searched for the elusive Wallys hidden among staff, the ever-popular Read-it-Eat-It bake sale, and a hugely successful book swap, with over 500 books donated and shared. The hidden sentence challenge in the library, the Raz-Kids reading challenge, and the buddy reading sessions, where older students shared stories with younger peers, all helped to build excitement around reading. The photo booth added a fun creative element, and today’s Book Character Day has been a wonderful way to bring the week to a close.

The school has been full of energy and enthusiasm for reading, and we encourage families to continue supporting regular reading at home.

A big thank you to the parents who came into school to share a favourite story with a class. It was great to see students enjoying these moments. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the teachers who led this initiative — Ms. Amy, Ms. Sri, Ms. Sylvia, Ms. Maryam, and Ms. Juhaina. The entire Primary team is grateful for your efforts in making this such an enjoyable and memorable week.

We would also like to recognise Ms. Karima, who, as part of The Little Reader initiative, took four students to Muscat on Monday to be interviewed on Muscat FM. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to share their love of reading in a real-world setting, and we are very proud of how they represented the school.

On Wednesday, we also marked Earth Day, taking time to reflect on how we can care for our environment. The story How the Crayons Saved the Earth was shared during assembly, carrying an important message about both individual and collective responsibility.

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
