It was so lovely seeing many of you at Student Led Conferences yesterday and this afternoon! Student-Led Conferences are a special opportunity for your child to share their learning with you, celebrate their progress, and talk about what they are working on next. However, if you didn’t get the chance to come to school, students should have everything they need to share it with you at home, please take some time to let them share their learning.

This week, besides preparing for SLC’s students’ started to engage and focus into their UOI inquiries with their groups. This was done through figuring out what they already know about their concepts and what they want to find out. Students’ also made a Frayer Model of their concept which includes a definition. They also created 3 questions around their concept, focusing on a causation, perspective, and responsibility question. This will set them up nicely to start researching their questions. In maths we started connecting fractions with decimals and percentages, figuring out how to get from one to another. We also thought about when we would see or use each in our daily lives. In literacy, students continued planning their realistic fiction story with a digital online problem as the core of the story. They did this through visualising their characters and setting, along with thinking about the message and planning for dialogue.

Looking Ahead:

Next week we will have our Book Week! It is always filled with fun activities and challenges, including character day! All the information you need can be found here

We will have a short week next week as Thursday 23rd April is no school for students.

In UOI, students will continue on their group inquiries, beginning their research into a question which they created around one of the specified concepts; causation, perspective or responsibility. In maths, students will continue to gain confidence going from fractions to decimals and percentages and vice versa. In literacy, students will begin to draft their realistic fiction story.
