Week 28: Inquiry in Action!

It has been another exciting week of learning in Grade 5 as students continue to delve into our Unit of Inquiry on digital citizenship. Alongside role-play activities that encouraged students to think critically about positive and negative choices online, we have now launched our digital citizenship inquiry projects. Working in small groups, students have selected a specific online topic to investigate and created three concept-based questions to guide their inquiry. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey of research and discovery, all building towards an exhibition of their learning during the week beginning 3rd May.

In literacy, students have begun planning their new realistic fiction narratives, which will connect closely to online experiences and digital citizenship themes. It has been great to see students already starting to think creatively about how to weave meaningful messages into their writing. In maths, we have continued exploring operations with fractions, while deepening our understanding of number and the relationships between fractions.

Looking ahead, next week we will continue building on all of this learning, with a particular focus on beginning the research phase of our inquiry projects as students develop their research skills and gather information to support their investigations.

A reminder that Student Led Conferences will take place on Wednesday 15th April from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. We look forward to welcoming families into the classroom to celebrate students’ learning and progress.

We hope you and your families have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes,
Mr. G & Miss Megan
