This week, secondary students began their swimming lessons and were reintroduced to the pool environment. Initial sessions focused on rebuilding confidence in the water, revisiting basic stroke technique, and reinforcing important safety expectations. Students worked through a variety of activities designed to assess their current ability levels while also allowing them to gradually regain their feel for the water. It was positive to see students supporting one another and engaging well as they settled back into swimming routines.

Alongside swimming, students have also begun their gymnastics units. Lessons have focused on body control, balance, and coordination, with students practising a range of floor-based movements and sequences. Students explored shapes, transitions, and controlled movement while beginning to understand how to link skills together effectively. These sessions have encouraged creativity, as well as an emphasis on technique and safe performance.

Overall, it has been a strong start to both units, with students showing good engagement and willingness to try new skills. As the weeks progress, students will continue developing their swimming technique while also building more complex gymnastics sequences, focusing on control, fluency, and performance quality.
