This week in DP Visual Arts, students focused on finalising their Art Making Inquiry Portfolio (AIP), a significant component that accounts for 40% of the final grade. After reviewing the final assessment checklist and rubric, students worked carefully to refine, organise, and curate their portfolios to clearly communicate their artistic investigations.

The AIP replaces the former Process Portfolio and places greater emphasis on students’ personal lines of inquiry rather than simply documenting step-by-step processes. Students have been selecting and annotating both visual and written materials to demonstrate how their ideas have developed through exploration, experimentation, and critical thinking.

Central to this work are each student’s inquiry questions—personal, meaningful prompts that guide their creative journey and encourage deeper investigation. As they finalise their portfolios, students are refining these questions and presenting how their evolving ideas have shaped their artistic practice, highlighting the importance of inquiry over outcome.
