Dear Primary Families,

It has been another busy and productive week across the Primary School, with students engaged in a wide range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

One of the highlights of my week was spending time not only in classrooms, but also teaching a number of PE sessions. I had great fun working with Grade 5 students on cricket, one of the most popular sports in the world and certainly a game I enjoyed very much while growing up and still enjoy today. It was great to see the students learning new skills, working together as teams, and showing real enthusiasm for the game.

With two Grade 1 classes, we played several variations of tag games. These activities provided a great opportunity for students to demonstrate the Learner Profile attribute of being principled. It is not always easy to follow the rules of a game when the competitive instinct kicks in, but moments like these create valuable opportunities for reflection and help students practise fairness and self-control.

I also enjoyed observing a guided reading session in a Grade 1 class this week. It was wonderful to see how focused and determined the students were as they practised their reading skills and worked towards their individual goals.

During the week I also met with teachers who are planning our upcoming Maths Week and Book Week, which will take place after the Eid holiday and mid-term break. Further details will be shared soon. As part of Book Week we will again organise a book swap, similar to last year, and we are also hoping to welcome DC Books back to host a second Book Fair.

Next week will be a four-day week, as Thursday has been announced as a holiday for Eid. We look forward to a productive few days ahead before a well-earned break.

Wishing all families a safe and happy weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
