Ramadan Kareem!
It has been a short and slightly restructured week in Grade 6.
In Maths, we put our knowledge of 3D shapes and key vocabulary (faces, edges, and vertices) to the test. Students worked in pairs to give clues and guess the shapes using precise mathematical language. We also explored nets of 3D shapes, identifying which features are necessary to successfully construct a solid from its net.
In UOI, we revisited our ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit with a focus on conflict and empathy. Students reflected on real-life examples of conflict in their own lives, created dialogue, and role-played scenarios through the lens of how empathy can help resolve challenges.
In Literacy, students completed a writing assessment to showcase their current writing skills. Many are continuing to edit and revise their Monster Writing pieces, focusing on strengthening description and clarity. We are also intentionally rebuilding our reading habits and fostering a culture of reading for both understanding and enjoyment.
Coming up next week…
- NEW UOI – How the World Works – more information next week
- An exciting new writing unit – explanations (which will connect closely to our UOI)
- Transformation Week in Maths – Rotation, Reflections and translations of shapes of a 4 quadrant coordinate plane.
Key Dates:
Just a reminder, you are invited to the ABIS Iftar on Tuesday 3 March at 5.45 pm in the Mazoon.
Have a great long weekend,
Grade 6 Team
