With just 4 days this week we still managed to do as much as possible and the students have worked very hard so deserve a good 3 day break.
We continue to do daily phonic, sound blending, word and sentence work. Our reading groups are settling into a rhythm and children enjoy reading together and talking about their books more now. We have been looking at shapes, trying to name them, describe them and draw them. We have explored using shapes in patterns- both following or completing patterns and creating our own.
During the Unit the children showed great thinking skills and named several communities that we may belong to- our family community, our class and school communities, where we live, our sport communities and even Earth as a very big community. They demonstrate understanding of NEEDS & WANTS by listing the things we need to live, in pairs, Then we put this list together and use higher thinking skills to try and rank the needs. Again the children display great thinking- nearly all agreed that water and food were the most important. They thoroughly enjoyed drawing all their wants and sharing these! Finally we paired up to do a check- they were shown 10 items and had to put in either need or want, Again, they got them all correct so I am very pleased with their progress this week! I will try to post individual work on Seesaw next week but attach a selection in the link below.
Have a great three day weekend!
