We began a new unit called “How We Organise Ourselves,” and over the next few weeks, we will explore how people in a community work together to meet their needs and wants.
We started by asking the questions: “What is a community? Who and what can we find in a community?” The children drew their ideas, which led to some wonderful and meaningful discussions.
This week, we were also lucky to welcome two parents into our classroom. They shared their jobs as community helpers: a dentist and a doctor. The children learned a lot about how people help others in their community.
In addition, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. One student had a great idea to create a town using 2D shapes, and the class was very excited to begin building it. We will continue working on this project over the coming weeks.
Below, we are happy to share some pictures to give you a glimpse of our week!
