Dear Secondary Families,

It has been a busy and productive week in school. Students are now well into their units of work, and it has been wonderful to visit classrooms and see the learning taking place and the enthusiasm of our students. As always, students are encouraged to take action, and many of their new units will create opportunities for authentic action in the coming weeks. We are very proud of the initiatives students have already led this year in relation to Creativity Action Service (CAS) and Service as Action (SA), and we are pleased to see students taking ownership in promoting and showcasing these activities through our new Service Action display board in the LC2 Atrium. It is always encouraging to see how our students engage with our local community.

It was lovely to connect with parents at our Coffee Morning this week; these opportunities for open dialogue and community-building are incredibly valuable. We would love to see even more families join us next month. Please remember that our Coffee Mornings are held once each month on a Tuesday, with reminders shared in our weekly Newsflash.

Earlier this week we held our Parent–Teacher Conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you to all families who attended and met with teachers to discuss your child’s learning and progress. The Semester 1 Reports provided an excellent opportunity for discussion. Please be reminded that communication does not end with conferences; teachers remain available via email, and meetings can be arranged at any time should questions, concerns, or celebrations arise. We truly value the partnership between home and school as a key component of student success.

Next week marks an important milestone for ABIS as we welcome the IB Evaluation Team on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. During their visit, the team will spend time learning about our school, observing teaching and learning, speaking with students, staff, and parents, and reviewing how we meet the IB Standards and Practices. We look forward to their professional insight and feedback as part of our ongoing growth and commitment to continuous improvement.

Looking beyond next week, we are excited to host our much-loved International Food Evening on Thursday, 5 February. This event is always a highlight of the year and a wonderful celebration of the diversity within our community. Further details will be shared with families shortly. Grade 9 students are also excited about their upcoming trip to Wadi Hoqain, Nizwa and Muscat as par of our Oman Week activities.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
