After another short holiday, we worked hard to get back into the school routine again this week. Students are becoming more independent and are able to do our morning routine by themselves, almost. They take it in turns to change the date, check the register, explain the timetable and we are counting back to see how many students are in school, for a change of perspective!

This week we spent time practising our lines, running order and stage positions for our class assembly. We are coordinating movements and stage/ microphone sharing with the other Grade 1 classes so it needs a few practices. Although it is a short performance, the students are each saying something in English- their own words- about the wadi trip. They will also be doing this in front of a whole Mazoon, full of people, so this is very brave of them. I am very proud of their efforts.

We have mainly focused on our Maths work this week, doing measuring with non-standard units- our feet! We needed to think about measuring correctly, not leaving spaces and measuring the whole length. We then had to record our work with drawing, indicative arrows and the measurements. We are also taking a closer look at numbers and thinking about place value. We have been working in pairs and using manipulatives to help and develop our understanding of this very important concept. This work will continue for some time so any extra help at home is appreciated. Checking for understanding and looking on Seesaw next week for online activities, please.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
