Welcome back Robloxian parents, Happy new year
We hope you all enjoyed a restful and joyful holiday break. It has been wonderful to see the students return with such enthusiasm, smiles, and readiness to learn. This week we also had our school photos taken, and the students looked fantastic, we can’t wait to see the final results.
Before beginning a new Unit of Inquiry, we spent time celebrating learning from our previous unit. Students proudly presented their Biome shelters and houses and demonstrated excellent communication skills by giving thoughtful, constructive feedback to their peers. It was lovely to see them reflecting on their own learning and appreciating the efforts of others; true PYP learners in action.
In Literacy, students continued developing their understanding and identifying nouns, verbs, and adjectives in sentences and confidently creating their own. We also enjoyed writing personal recounts about our holidays, where students shared exciting and meaningful moments, strengthening their ability to express ideas clearly and creatively.
We have been learning how to correctly spell the days of the week, and this will be our spelling test next Thursday. Please support your child by practicing at home.
In Math, students worked incredibly hard on adding three-digit numbers using a variety of strategies. We explored key mathematical concepts and vocabulary such as regrouping and trading, while reinforcing the correct place value language: Hundreds, Tens, and Ones (Units). The students showed great perseverance and a strong growth mindset as they tackled challenging problems.
Next week we will officially begin our new Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves.
The central idea is: Through creativity and imagination, we can express ourselves to others.
Students will be introduced to the key vocabulary and concepts of this unit, which focuses on emotions, creativity, and expression through drama and art. Throughout the unit, learners will explore and act out emotions, participate in storytelling and role-play, and create artistic representations of feelings. Please refer to the UOI flyer shared on Seesaw so you can stay connected and support your child’s learning journey at home.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone!
Ms Cami
