Dear Secondary Families,
Today was a special day at ABIS as we came together as a whole school to celebrate Oman National Day. This morning’s assembly was a wonderful reminder of the strength and beauty of our school community. Students from across all grade levels took part in a variety of performances that reflected both the rich heritage of Oman and the spirit of unity within our international community.
One of the greatest privileges of being an international school in Oman is the opportunity to celebrate and honour the traditions of our host nation. For our students, many of whom come from different countries and cultures, days like this offer a chance to learn, appreciate, and participate in the national identity of the country they call home. For our staff, it is an opportunity to stand alongside our Omani colleagues and students and celebrate together the important occasion. Celebrations like today highlight the value of international education, where diversity is embraced, cultures are shared, and a sense of belonging is nurtured.
On behalf of the entire ABIS community, I am delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Talal Al-Zaabi from Grade 9, who achieved an outstanding 8th place in the Quran Competition for all schools in Sohar. This competition included government schools, mountain schools, private schools, and international schools. We are very proud of his dedication, perseverance, and commitment. A sincere thank you to Ms. Sahar and our Arabic Department for their guidance and support throughout the preparation process.
A reminder that school will be closed next week on Wednesday and Thursday in recognition of the National Day holiday. We wish all our families a safe and enjoyable long weekend, and we hope you are able to take time to celebrate with loved ones.
From Sunday to Tuesday next week, our Book Fair will take place in the LC3 building. Parents are warmly invited to visit and browse the selection of books available for purchase. Reading is such a wonderful habit and skill to nurture, and we encourage families to continue supporting and celebrating their children’s love of books and stories.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for being an integral part of our vibrant school community.
Warm regards,
Andrew Cooper
