Dear Secondary Families,

Our Grade 8 students returned yesterday from their sailing camp with Oman Sail at Mussanah Resort, where they not only developed confidence and teamwork, but also achieved their Level 1 Sailing Qualification. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and connect classroom learning to real-life experiences. Ms Jo and myself who attended the trip were very proud of the way the students conducted themselves and engaged with the activities. Watching them work together to navigate the winds, problem-solve on the water, and support one another was a true reflection of the IB Approaches to Learning in action, especially collaboration, communication, and self-management.

Currently, a group of our secondary students are in Muscat taking part in the Model United Nations (MUN) conference. Through debating global issues and representing different nations, they are demonstrating critical thinking, empathy, and a strong sense of international-mindedness, which are all key elements of the IB philosophy. It is inspiring to see how confidently they engage with complex topics and how thoughtfully they listen to diverse perspectives.

Looking Ahead;

Grade 7 students are excited for their upcoming Water Sports Camp at Sifah Beach in just a couple of weeks. This trip will give them the chance to apply the teamwork and resilience skills they’ve been developing in class while learning in a new and exciting environment.

Next week, we will celebrate Oman’s National Day on Wednesday, 20th November. This will be a student-only assembly, as space in the Mazoon Hall is limited when the entire school gathers together. Students are warmly invited to wear traditional Omani dress or clothing in the colours of the Omani flag to mark this important national occasion.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I wish all our students and families a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Warm regards

Andy Cooper
