Dear Parents,

We’re back from the break, rested, recharged, and ready for Term 2. Woop woop! With all those new neural pathways formed during rest, play, and sleep, our brains are now primed to learn faster and remember better (thank you, neuroscience!). And what a return it’s been.

Grade 7s kept building on the theme of identity, adding new layers with physical descriptions and expressions that show what makes each of them unique. Next week, we’ll move on to hobbies and pastimes, expect some funny “likes” and “don’t likes” conversations in French!

Grade 8s are absolutely nailing their listening skills. They’ve shown real focus and growth since the start of the year, and next week, they’ll get to put it all to the test in their listening assessment (Criterion A).

Grade 9s wrapped up their Criterion D writing with impressive effort and creativity. The next stop? The audio version of travel blogs; yes, VLOGS! Destination: Mayotte. Excitement (and a bit of wanderlust) guaranteed.

Grade 10s are also preparing for their listening assessment, while showing fantastic teamwork in building longer, more complex paragraphs. Their collaboration skills have shone this week, you’ll see it in the picture!

DP students have been flexing their grammar muscles, diving into the mysterious world of the subjunctive. I was genuinely impressed by the level of understanding, but even more by the thoughtful questions that came from it. Curiosity in action!

A brilliant start to the term: rested brains, fresh energy, and laughter back in the classrooms. If this week is any sign, Term 2 is going to be full of spark.

Warm wishes,
Miss J
