This week in literacy we have worked on:
- making words using our knowledge of short vowel sounds and consonants
- identifying short vowel sounds in words
- used our speaking and listening skills to brainstorm goals for this term
- used our writing skills to write our goals
In maths this week we have worked on:
- identified the attributes of 2D shapes
- made hexagons by using different 2D shapes
In UOI this week we have:
- completed our summative assessment of designing a community space for all community members
- reflected on our community space and how it provides places to promote health and happiness (well-being)
- reflected on how we have supported the natural spaces in our community
- we looked at the Action Cycle and decided to write a letter advocating for change in our ABIS shared spaces
- we brainstormed a list of changes we would like to see within our ABIS community, then wrote a letter to Mr Dominic with our suggestions
In Action this week:
- Ms Mary ann presented a lesson on Action, concentrating on: Participation, Lifestyle Choices and Advocacy
- the students watched and discussed a slide who demonstrating these types of action which could be take
- the students shared their own actions which they have taken or may take in the future
- in small groups, the students sorted a variety of pictures into one of the three actions

After the holiday:
UOI: Where we are in place and time
- we will begin our new unit of inquiry focusing on types of houses around the world
Maths:
- we will begin a unit on place value and identifying how we use numbers in a variety of situations
Literacy:
- using phonics to make words
- handwriting practise
- learning new reading strategies
- guided, shared and independent reading
- learning new writing strategies
- working on our presentation skills
