1. This Week in Our Learning:
• We have spent this week working on the summative task for our film review unit. On Sunday, as you know, we went to the cinema and watched the new Tron film. Students took notes on the bus ride back and have now spent the last two lessons preparing and writing their review. Today’s lesson is an opportunity for refinement through self and peer assessment.
2. Looking Ahead:
• Next week we will move on to our second unit, the Writing Workshop. This is an important unit in which students learn the expectations of academic essay writing. We will be examining articles from the news that aim to generate fear and then we will analyze to what extent we should actually be afraid. Many of the articles are about AI development, censorship, and other topics of concern. I am looking forward to working with our grade 10s in strengthening their academic writing.
