Dear Secondary families,
With different academic programmes available throughout the world, I am sometimes asked why we choose to follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).
The IB Diploma Programme offers a challenging and well-rounded education that develops critical thinking, research, and time management skills, preparing students for success at university and beyond. Its rigorous curriculum encourages curiosity, resilience, and independence while maintaining globally consistent standards of achievement.
Beyond academics, the IB Diploma fosters personal growth and social responsibility. Students engage in community service, creativity, and leadership opportunities that help them become balanced, reflective individuals who contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Universities and employers worldwide actively seek out IB graduates for their academic excellence, cultural awareness, and ability to think critically and communicate effectively. The programme’s international recognition and consistent framework also make it ideal for globally mobile families.
At ABIS, we are proud of our IB graduates and the impressive achievements they continue to make in universities and careers around the world.
A reminder that our next Parent Coffee Morning will take place on Tuesday, 14 October. This informal gathering is a great opportunity to connect with me and other parents, share ideas, and discuss any aspects of school life in a relaxed setting. We’ll also offer a short demonstration of ManageBac for any parents who would like additional guidance on using the platform.
I look forward to seeing many of you there and continuing to strengthen our parent–school partnership.
Have a lovely weekend,
Andy Cooper
