Dear Secondary Families,
This week has been another busy and exciting one for our students and staff.
Student Leadership
This week I had the pleasure of meeting with our Secondary Student Council, who brought forward many creative and thoughtful ideas for the year ahead. Their insight was impressive and has already led to several initiatives being put in place. For example, they have set up a TV screen in LC2 that now shares daily comments, updates, and information with students. They have also introduced a student “Dropbox,” where anyone can post ideas or concerns to be raised in Council meetings. It is wonderful to see our students taking ownership of their school community and creating new ways to strengthen communication and collaboration. Their leadership plays a key role in ensuring that every student’s voice can be heard.
Edutrac Careers Conference in Muscat
Our Grade 10, 11, and 12 students had the opportunity to attend the Edutrac Careers Conference in Muscat. This event brought together universities, employers, and career organisations from across the region and beyond. It was an excellent chance for our students to engage directly with representatives, ask questions, and begin thinking more deeply about their own pathways beyond school. Events like these are invaluable in helping students see the many opportunities available to them, both in higher education and in the world of work.
Professional Development Day
Today, our teachers spent the day in Professional Development with a focus on two important areas: Student Support and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. The sessions were thought-provoking and practical, giving teachers the chance to reflect on their current practice, consider the IB perspective, explore new strategies, and collaborate on ideas. AI in education is an area of growing importance, and it was encouraging to see teachers leave the day energised, full of ideas, and ready to bring fresh approaches back into the classroom for the benefit of our students.
Have a lovely weekend
