This week, our MYP Grade 9 Visual Arts students successfully completed a major summative task, creating powerful and expressive self-portraits for their Criterion C assessment. This exhibition of work marks a significant achievement in their artistic journey this semester.

The project centered on the Key Concept of Identity and the Related Concept of Communication. Students were challenged to move beyond realistic likeness and instead use their art as a vehicle to communicate their inner worlds. Through thoughtful experimentation with color, bold patterns, and dynamic composition, each artist crafted a piece that reflects their unique personality, mood, and personal story. These portraits stand as a testament to how art can serve as a profound mirror of the self.

We extend a special congratulations to Mais and Nawra, whose artworks were recognized as the best and most technically accomplished in the class. Their dedication and skill are truly commendable.

The artistic process continues as students now begin their Criterion D commentary. In this final stage, they will critically analyze their own work, evaluate their creative process, and reflect on their development in the ATL skills and IB Learner Profiles.
