Each week, the Grade 1 students visit the school library, a wonderful time to boost their enjoyment of reading and nurture their love for books. Reading aloud at home plays an important role: it expands their vocabulary, supports language development, and sparks their imagination. I hope you enjoy the books they bring home together.

In addition, the children are practicing reading on the iPad using RAZ Kids. They can listen to the books first and then read on their own. Daily short practice at home is recommended; login details can be found in the reading folder.

We have also started guided reading, where students read in small groups and receive extra support to become more fluent and confident readers.

In Mathematics, we are having lots of fun with counting games and activities with the number before and after. This strengthens their understanding of number sequences and lays an important foundation for further math learning.

In our Unit Who We Are, the children are getting to know each other better by asking questions and recording the answers in charts. They use tally marks and bar graphs, learning to collect, compare, and interpret data in a fun and meaningful way.
