Dear Parents,

Another week has flown by in Grade 6. Lots going on as our Literacy, Math and UOI units continue to push forwards.

In Literacy, we have now completed our awesome units about constructing a beautiful paragraph using descriptive and figurative language. We are now starting to unpack our next stand alone Literacy unit about creating a personal narrative (more information to follow next week).

In Maths, we have been unpacking multiple strategies for multiplication and division. As well as starting the decimal phase of this stand alone number sense unit. This unit will soon become the foundation for our second mathematical unit about fractions.

In UOI lessons, we have been understanding the concept of push and pull factors connected to migration. We have looked at various case studies and really tried to look at the personal reasons for why someone may choose or be forced to migrate. We are putting empathy at the centre of every part of this unit and aiming for the children to understand that each case is unique.
