Grade 1 has had a busy and joyful week of learning! The children enjoyed their swimming lessons and built confidence in the water. Please remember to send swimming gear on Thursday so everyone can take part.

Each morning we start by checking in with our feelings, using the monsters we created after reading Colorful Monsters. This helps children recognise their own emotions and show care for one another throughout the day.

In literacy, students are learning new letter sounds each week, beginning to read CVC words, and practicing their handwriting daily to build confidence and fine motor skills. In math, we played a memory game to match numbers with dots and practiced skip counting by 2s, both of which strengthen number sense and prepare for more advanced skills.

As part of our unit Who We Are, students created dolls to represent themselves and reflected on what makes them special. They enjoyed sharing their ideas and discovering both similarities and differences, helping us celebrate diversity in our class.

We are proud of the children’s hard work and the joy they bring to learning each day. Enjoy the weekend!
