Dear Secondary Families,

One of the most important aspects of an IB education is developing student agency, which means giving students the opportunity to have a voice, make choices, and take ownership of their learning and their school community. This is something we are passionate about at ABIS, and it has been great to see our students step into leadership roles so early in the school year.

Our Secondary Student Council has already been very active and it has been wonderful to see a number of new members. Meeting every week, they have been busy planning a range of events and initiatives designed to bring our community together and make a real impact on school life. From social activities to service projects, their energy, creativity, and commitment have been truly impressive.

The work of the Student Council goes beyond simply organising events. It provides our students with an authentic platform to share their perspectives, collaborate with peers and teachers, and help shape the direction of our school. This aligns closely with the IB’s focus on developing internationally minded young people who can lead with integrity and take meaningful action in their communities.

We believe that when students are empowered to share their voices, they feel more connected to their learning and take pride in their contributions. Their leadership helps to create a culture where every student knows their ideas matter and where they are inspired to be active participants, not just in their education, but in the wider world.

I am very proud of the students who have taken on these leadership roles and grateful to the teachers who are helping to guide them. I look forward to seeing the positive changes they will bring to our community throughout the year.

Primary & Secondary Parent Coffee Morning & Workshop

Tuesday, 16th September: 8:00 – 9:30 am, LC3 Cafe

We are delighted to invite you to our next Primary and Secondary Parent Coffee Morning and Workshop on Tuesday morning next week. Join us for coffee and informal conversation from 8:00 – 8:30 am, followed by an engaging workshop led by our Programme Coordinators. This will be a wonderful opportunity for parent agency, where you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to grow and strengthen our school community together.

During the workshop, we will be discussing three key areas that are central to our vision at ABIS:

  1. Student learning and growth
  2. Communication, collaboration, and community
  3. Learner Profile attributes and international-mindedness

Have a lovely weekend

Warm Regards

Andy Cooper
