What a fun conclusion to an awesome year. I am very proud of all the students and so happy we could finish the year with this very special event. I hope you enjoyed the graduation and that you feel that it was a fitting ending of your child’s Primary school journey. I have added some photos from above, but I am sure you all took much better pictures or have received the photos from the professional photographer. Thank you for the help with the fab outfits, the yummy food and the photographer.

Overview

As I look back over the year, I am not only happy with the academic progress of the class, but probably more happy by how they have developed and applied their ‘Approaches to Learning’ (ATLs). I feel that they are much more independent, resilient and are able to manage themselves more effectively. Their self-management and social skills have really taken off and, on the whole, we have become a very calm, gentle and harmonious grade level who (largely) show empathy to each other and enjoy collaborative experiences. This is huge and it sets the students up to be very successful at MYP level at ABIS or whatever school they are attending next year…. All skills and attributes explored within the IB system are wonderfully applicable in other curriculums and are, in essence, skills that will allow us to be successful in life. Also, as I look back, the communication skills of the cohort have really blossomed too – this was very evident in both the PYP Exhibition and the recent Ted talks. The students are also becoming critical thinkers and looking to evaluate, analyse and synthesise information much more deeply. They are also much more confident at researching important issues and have explored academic honesty, including ways to use AI appropriately. So much growth, so much learning!

So, I don’t really have much more to say….. Other than to wish you all a very pleasant and relaxing summer. I will be staying in Grade 6 next year, but I am sure I will have the pleasure of seeing you all around the ABIS campus occasionally. Thank you for all your help and positive energy this year. It really does make the classroom teacher’s position so much easier when the parents are this supportive!

Thank you,

Matt
