Wishing you all a blessed Eid holiday! An action packed short week was had by all…
In literacy, students worked in their debate teams to create their own Google forms as a way of collecting evidence to support their debate motions. They then worked on editing their final debate speeches, and adding what evidence they could to support their arguments. All students did extremely well when it came to debating, and the teams and the motion were introduced by a Chairperson, who also asked for the votes to decide the winning team with the most persuasive arguments.
In maths students learned about data handling and the different ways in which data can be displayed or presented as evidence to support opinions. In fractions, students learned about converting between fractions, decimals, and percent. They also had the opportunity to use these new strategies to do their own conversions.
In UOI students continued with their project based learning in our unit of inquiry, following the journey of two foods from farm to table, thinking about the origins of the main ingredients of the foods and where they came from, and the process they went through to arrive in our homes.

Looking forward
Next week, students will be a short week for students as we look ahead to wrapping up our learning in our final unit of inquiry. In maths we will be revising a number of strategies students have learned throughout the year. In literacy, students will be debating against other teams for either the proposition or opposition. We look forward to seeing which teams can be the most persuasive.
Best wishes, Grade 5 Team
