This Week
A very exiting and high pressured week in G6 as the students not only attempted to learn their Ted talk speeches by hear, but also developed strategies of how they use their voice, body language, eye contact, pauses, different levels, movement and pacing to really make their speeches engaging and form a connection with the audience. This was a great learning experience for the students and a time when a little bit of pressure is a positive thing. Please look at your child’s Seesaw post to see their full video performance.
Mathematics – we completed our units on patterns & sequences, revisited our pre-assessments to reflect on our growth and extended ourselves by designing algebraic math challenges of our own. These problems not only connects to algebra (by using an image to represent a value) but also the operations order and using B.O.D.M.A.S to determine which part of a problem to solve first. There is an example below, this is a link to some other problems the children have created – link – how many can you solve?
Next Week (3 days)
The first day back after the Eid al Adhaa holiday the G6 students will have the whole day to meet with teachers and experience life in the Secondary school. This will be a very exciting day where they will start to visualise their next step. It will also be a great chance to have all their questions, queries and wonderings answered.
We will also be preparing for the Summer Concert on the 12th and be working on the final preparations for the G6 Graduation. Thank you for all those who have sent in baby / toddler photos – you will see why we wanted them on the 16th.
