Another fast and furious paced week in Grade 6 (as ever).

This week we have been very busy brainstorming ideas for our persuasive speeches. The students considered what message they have learnt from the Exhibition, Grade 6 or indeed Primary school that they believe is worth sharing with our community. What message will be impactful and leave behind a powerful legacy. The children are using their own analysis of successful Ted talks, as well as the (below) planners  to help guide their speech. In the coming days it would be great if you could talk to your child about their speech and maybe even ask them to show you what they have done so far and offer some feedback! There will be lots of details about their speech on next week’s Seesaw.

G6 Graduation Update

There are so many variables involving the original PYP G6 Graduation date of the 10th of June (8.15am – 9am in the Mazoon). So we have made the logical decision to move the day to Monday 16th June (below). This way we can time to properly practice and set up on the 15th. This is a special day and I would hate it to feel rushed. I sincerely hope that this date change will not impact you too much. I think it is the right thing to do given the uncertainty around the 9th/10th June.

Graduation Preparation

As part of out How We Organize Ourselves unit, the Grade 6 students have been starting to organise and plan their graduation. This week that included designing and voting for the graduation certificate (below) for our big event on the 16th June.

Interactive Board

I always enjoys watching students interact with out weekly mathematical and spelling puzzles. For many children it is a great activity when they need a short break from classwork.

Assembly

Some photos from today’s assembly (below). A nice little skit showing some of the science that we learnt about a few weeks ago in our How the World Works unit of inquiry.

Next Week

  • Finish draft of Ted talk speeches
  • Begin to look at how to deliver a speech – using our voice, eyes, body language and drama.
