We began reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar this week, and the children really enjoyed it! They could talk about why they liked the story and share their thoughts with growing confidence. We also watched a video showing how Eric Carle uses collage to illustrate his books. His creative process fascinated the students, and they loved seeing how he brings his characters to life.
The children designed their own front covers for The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Seeing their knowledge and enthusiasm reflected in their detailed, colorful illustrations was wonderful.
Next week, we’ll continue our exploration by using quick-drying play dough to create models of the characters from the story. We’re looking forward to another creative and hands-on week of learning!
