Students had some super Maths experiences this week. Many children are trying to get the high score on the ipad Tell the Time game we have been using to learn o’clock and half past times. There has been fierce competition and, of course, improved time-telling. We were very fortunate to be invited to the Mazoon and have Mathematical activities and games with Grade 2, 3 & 4 students for World Maths Day. This stretched our thinking, logic and strategy skills not just our numeracy skills! At the end of the week, we finished with a highly exciting knock-out, whole-school game of Rock, Paper, Scissors which we all tried hard to understand is very much a game of chance.… and a few keen Mathematicians used their halving skills to work out how quickly we would get down to the final.
To end our Unit of Inquiry about how people help each other in the community, we presented our Ramadan gift boxes to some very important support staff in our school. Students wrote and drew Thank You notes and pictures to decorate the boxes. We are grateful to these staff who work hard to keep our school and lovely gardens clean, tidy and a pleasant environment to work in.
Have a wonderful holiday everyone – EID MUBARAK!
