What a week! So much energy, nerves and excitement in Grade 6 as they walked their final steps leading towards the culmination of the Exhibition last night (Wednesday). Thank you everyone for attending and showing so much empathy, support and joy for the students and their ideas. It was a very powerful experience for the students and I know for certain that positive memories were created that will live with them for a long time.

I have said from prior to the launch of the Exhibition that process is the most important and that the most important learning and reflections will be unseen. This is still my core belief and I feel that that how they have have grown in their ATLs will be the lasting legacy. Their self-management skills in particularly and also I think their communication skills. They presented with authority, confidence and passion. These are qualities that many adults struggle to show when they present, so the students deserve a lot of credit for this area of growth. That said, it is great when the end ‘product’ is as engaging, experiential and inspiring too. So, I guess the best of both worlds when we get a great process and a product at the end that does justice to all the student’s efforts and creativity.

When we return after this mini break, we will be starting an exciting new How the World Works unit of inquiry, more information to come in my next post. We will not be forgetting about our PYP Exhibitions though, and for the final unit of the year we will be revisiting them and looking at the legacy of our inquiries and what we have learnt about ourselves. This will then culminate in each of the children delivering a Ted Talk type speech to inspire and educate other grades.

I hope you all feel incredibly proud of your children. They have gone through a very intense and rigorous set of inquires and come out the other side as smiling and stronger students. Finally, thank you for your very generous gifts to me, so thoughtful.

Have a great weekend and Ramadan Kareem,

Mr Matt
