It has been an exciting week of learning about Oman: history and culture. We have been on three fun and informative field trips, participated in a variety of in school activities and even ridden a camel!

On Sunday, we visited Sohar Fort and a souq. We really enjoyed walking around the fort and learning about the lost city buried underneath it. We were so fortunate to meet the archaeologists that are currently working there and learn more about the importance of this ancient port.

On Monday, we visited the library to draw Arabic designs on bookmarks. Later in the day, the girls went to have henna painted on their hands and the boys worked on some Arabic colouring designs.

Tuesday morning we headed to Sangar Park where we had so much fun playing on the play equipment, eating our snacks and playing on the beach. The students had a great time jumping over the waves or building castles in the sand. They were also brought a treat from one of the parents which they thoroughly appreciated.

Wednesday, we were treated to some Omani cooking: delicious pancakes smothered in honey.

Thursday morning, we headed to the fruit and vegetable market to find out where the produce comes from and where it goes. Then we had the opportunity to purchase fruit which we brought back to make into fruit salads. The students really enjoyed finding out about the produce and where it came from and especially loved buying their own fruit to bring back to school. We spent time in the kitchen to cut up the fruit,  then mixed it together before eating it.

Thank you to all of the parent volunteers, Grade 2 could not have enjoyed the field trips or events without your support.
