Dear parents,

Oman Week kicks off on Sunday with a whole-school assembly, where students are invited to wear traditional Omani clothing (except Grades 2 and 4 who are to wear school clothing as they are on trips).

Throughout the week, students will take part in activities celebrating Omani culture, including traditional crafts, guest speakers, and cultural workshops. Many grades will also be heading off on trips—Grades 2 and 3 will be exploring Oman on day trips, including today’s visit by Grade 3 to Sohar Port to investigate the ongoing archaeological dig. Grades 4 and 5 will go on overnight trips to Mussanah and Muscat, Grade 7 will head to As Sifah for a water sports camp, and Grade 8 will travel to Mussanah for a sailing adventure. Grades 9–11 will have their residential trip in April, with details to be shared next week. The Oman week will conclude with a celebration assembly on Thursday.

These trips and experiences give students a deeper understanding of the country we call home, whether they have lived here their whole lives or are experiencing Oman as guests. Being in the landscapes of Oman—on the water, in the desert, or exploring historical sites—allows students to connect with the culture in meaningful ways. Overnight and day trips also help develop independence, resilience, and collaboration—skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Our House Competition today brought great energy to the secondary school, with Grade 8 students leading a spirited game of Capture the Flag. The House system is more than just competition; it fosters teamwork, leadership, and school spirit. Meanwhile, our Model United Nations (MUN) delegates are representing our school at TAISM this weekend, engaging in debates and negotiations that challenge them to think critically about global issues.

Looking ahead, Oman Week will be followed by International Food Evening on February 20th, a chance to celebrate the many cultures within our school community. We encourage families to join us for this special event.

As we step into an exciting few weeks, we wish our Grade 10 students success as they prepare for their mock eAssessments and thank our Grade 12s for their hard work during their recent exams.

Have a wonderful weekend.
