Hello everyone! It was an amazing week. Let’s dive into this week’s highlights in the world of visual arts!
It sounds like the young artists are off to a fantastic time:
- – **KG1** contiuous exploring the **elements of art** with a focus on **lines**. Practicing different types of shapes—square and rectangle and the difference between them, it helps them build fundamental drawing skills and understand the variety of shapes they can use to express themselves.
- – **KG2** moved a step further by continuing to discover **different texture techniques** in art. Learning about textures—both visual and tactile—encourages them to experiment with materials and understand how texture can be different when we trying to experiment on paper with paint, glitter and beads.
These foundational lessons are so valuable in nurturing creativity and helping students express themselves artistically. Keep up the great work!
It sounds like each grade level is diving into exciting and inspiring projects tailored to their growing artistic skills:
- – **Grade 1** is beginning their **printmaking unit** by exploring textures in nature. Observing and feeling textures will give them a strong foundation for creating interesting prints inspired by the natural world.
- – **Grade 2** is busy with **crafts** as they create their own **houses**. This hands-on project (origami )will help them develop spatial awareness and creativity.
- – **Grade 3** is learning about ** Van Gogh and they choose to do the sunflowers with their own styles by using crayons, they’re honing their observation skills and experimenting with movement and perspective in art.
- – **Grade 4** is starting to work on their sculpture by studying the African masks and starting to using shapes and patterns to create their own masks.
- – **Grade 5** is delving into **Impressionism** by studying **Van Gogh** and trying their hand at recreating *Starry Night*. This exploration introduces them to expressive brushstrokes and color use in the Impressionist style.
- – **Grade 6** is exploring **abstract and modern art** through **Piet Mondrian**. They’re conducting research, which will help them understand the minimalist, geometric approach that Mondrian and other modern artists pioneered. They started to draw the first letter of their name by using his style.
These projects are beautifully designed to foster creativity, technique, and art appreciation. Each grade has such unique opportunities to expand their skills!
Thank you! Wishing you a wonderful weekend as well. I look forward to sharing fresh ideas and inspiration with you next week. Take care.
