We have continued our personal narratives, writing about a day at the beach. The students went from brainstorming ideas, describing the events of their story to starting to organize their writing and then adding an introduction.
This week, I introduced readers theatre to the class. It’s a way to involve students in reading aloud. In reader’s theater, students “perform” by reading scripts created from grade-level books or stories. Usually they do so without costumes or props. Reader’s theater is a strategy that combines reading practice and performing. The class formed groups and each group received a script. They have spent the week practicing and will perform them for each other next week.
Have a good weekend and stay safe!
