As we experience another week of moving to online learning in expectation of extreme weather, Grade 7 start digging deeper into the language and concepts connected to Human Action and Climate Change. We are looking through a Cause and Effect lens and our end goal is to consider the guiding statement from a very local perspective, i.e. the influence of recent deluges on Oman’s infrastructure, people’s homes, livelihoods, education etc.
It makes sense to use student’s real world experiences to help them connect more personally with our current Unit of Inquiry. This week, students began creating our classroom word walls by each taking an human action and exploring it at a conceptual level. They then moved on to doing some criterion a & b work on World Biomes, and were encouraged to use today’s remote learning time to continue that work. Next week, they will use their research to inform their formative assessment project work, which will ask them to tie a Biome to a specific human action that negatively impacts that Biome’s health and wellbeing.
As always, guidelines can be found on Google Classroom.
