Over the past three weeks Grade 5 have had some social, emotional learning classes with Ms. Maitha. The focus has been about self control, looking at things we can control, and of course, things that we can’t control. Oman Week did not go as expected due to the weather which was out of everyone’s control, but when we face challenges, we can control how we react to them. Grade 5 students were delighted to hear that the trip to Muscat has been rescheduled for the 4th – 6th March!
It was a short week, but we managed to fit in an on demand opinion writing assessment, a maths pre-assessment as we head into starting our new maths unit of measurement, perimeter, area, and volume. In unit of inquiry this week we learned about how the moon controls the tides on Earth, and also all of the different phases the moon goes through in it’s orbit of Earth. Students were asked to create posters showing significant dates to them and which phase the moon was in on those dates. We look forward to sharing them with you at our Student Led Conferences which have been postponed until after Ramadan. This is due to the rescheduling of the Oman Week trips.
We wish you a restful weekend. Best wishes, Miss Rachel & Ms. Khadija
