We hope you have seen the learning targets posted on Seesaw, and also the Who We Are as… reflections that helped to create those targets. As a learning community, things are really starting to come together in Grade 5.
This week in language, we were looking at the key concepts of form and function as we related them to biographies. In maths we started to explore how to reason concretely and pictorially using place value understanding to relate adjacent base ten units from millions to thousandths. In UOI, we undertook a Learner Profile self-assessment to help understand which of the attributes are our strengths, and how to use them to support our community. We also identified which Learner Profile attributes we need to work on developing.
All students have now been signed in to ePic! and Kids A-Z which are reading platforms that we will be using to support reading in the classroom. Please ask your child to show you how these work. We hope the students have had a lovely long weekend and that they have enjoyed showing you what they have been learning in maths through their homework. Best wishes, The Grade 5 Team.
