Wow! What a week for grade 5 students. The Great Grade 5 Cook Off 2023 took place on Monday. Students were out at Lulus in the morning shopping for their ingredients, then the afternoon was spent cooking up a variety of yummy dishes! All teams worked well together and all meals were kept within their budgets and their time allowance. Great effort everyone.
Unknown to the students, the scoring system related back to the prior learning of this unit, looking at how far ingredients had travelled, and whether any of them carried FairTrade or sustainable markings. The Team with the lowest score were the winners! Congratulations to: Mr Matthew, Mohammed, Yahya, Alice, Feline and Floris, a.k.a. Team Checkmate.
Last night it was fantastic to see Grade 5 students performing with their instruments for the very first time. They have worked so hard to learn their music in such a short space of time and to be able to perform together on stage was nothing short of remarkable! Thank you as always parents for all of your support, we would not have had such a successful year without your partnership and we all appreciate it so much. Thank you.
Next week will be the final week of the academic year 2023-2024, your children will leave us next week as Grade 6 students, taking their next step on their learning journey. Until that time, please let us spend our last week together as we reflect on our learning over the year, create some memory books, clear our learning space, and of course, celebrate our year together with end of year certificates and lots of fun!
Have a great weekend. Best wishes, G5 Teaching Team.
