I tell the students all the time how proud I am of their learning: the whys, the hows, and the whats. The IB has 10 learner profile qualities: inquirer, knowledgeable, thinker, communicator, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-taking, balanced, and reflective. These qualities help not only students but teachers and adults understand why we do what we do. The IB has 5 approaches to learning: social skills, research skills, thinking skills, communication skills, and self-management skills. These approaches to learning help students approach how they learn as positively as possible. The IB also encourages agency or voice, choice, and ownership of what students choose to learn. Sharing in discussions about the whys, the hows, and the whats of our learning makes for a very positive learning space!

As we make our way to a well-deserved break after a short but full week, I would like to celebrate Spirit Week with some photos and give a few reminders for when school resumes. (From the photos, students definitely showed their spirit of togetherness as most students preferred photos with any G5 student near by.) As soon as school resumes, swimming lessons will too. Girls swim on Sunday and boys swim on Tuesday. As soon as you receive notice, please sign up for student-led conferences. Students will present their learning from individual and group projects. Many G5 students have parts in the school musical, so (if you can) please come out for an afternoon to support the effort that everyone’s put in over the past few months.
