Dear Parents,

We were delighted to host the official opening ceremony for our new school pergola, the Oasis, generously donated by C. Steinweg Oman, this week. Our school board, parent committee, and school community, including teachers and students, were in attendance. The ceremony featured musical performances by our Grade 2 students and Carla from Grade 11, and speeches from Mr. Hendrik van Mierop, CEO of Steinweg, myself, and our student council president Emma.

We also took the opportunity to recognize and thank Mr. Jerry van Alphen for his unwavering support and service to ABIS over the last ten years as a member of our school board. He has been an invaluable member of our community and his contributions to the school will be greatly missed as he retires. Mr. van Alphen was instrumental in the building of the new campus which is a testament to his hard work and commitment.

Mr.Ricardo Santana, the new Sohar Aluminium CFO replacing Mr. van Alphen, will be joining the school board at the end of February. We warmly welcome him and his family to the ABIS community.

Our students in grades 7-10 had an amazing time on their recent camp trip, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our teachers and the professional support of Edventure. Thank you to those teachers who went on these trips.

Due to inclement weather, we made the decision to close school early on Wednesday to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We hope that the flooding in some areas of Al Batinah, where some of our students reside, subsides soon.

Please note that Semester One school reports will be distributed next Thursday. Our teachers have put a lot of time and effort into creating personalized reports for each student. We encourage you to take the time to read through them carefully with your child.

Best regards,

Dominic Robeau
