In grade 11 Chemistry we recently started a new unit – atomic structure. We started off learning about it by considering what happens when electrons change their positions around the nucleus (farther then closer). This simple activity gives a feeling for the energy given off by electrons because we can learn so much about atoms and their behavior by quantifying this energy – a major goal of this unit.
