Dear Families,
Thank you to Grades 5 & 6 students and teachers for putting on an amazing assembly this afternoon, our first of the academic year. It was wonderful to have other classes and parents in attendance to share in the learning happening at ABIS. Next Thursday, Oct. 13, the assembly will be hosted by Grades 2, 3 & 4. Everyone is always welcome at our Primary Assemblies!
Our After School Activities are rolling along successfully, with students enjoying a variety of options, such as cooking, dance, games, cup stacking and many others. Next week we will begin planning our 2nd round of activities, which will begin after the October break. You will receive sign up information prior to the break. We will be able to offer outdoor options by then. We already have 2 parents involved in offering an activity. Please let us know if you are interested to get involved.
Please make sure you are sending enough healthy food to school for your child each day. I see many primary students eating only chips or cookies for lunch, which is not sufficient to sustain learning until 3pm. When I ask, the students say that they ate their sandwich at break time because they were hungry. Please have a conversation with your child at home, and send lots of healthy options for lunch and snack, limiting treats such as chips or cakes. Refilling water bottles is always an option, and students are encouraged to stay hydrated throughout each day.
Remember that Sunday, October 9 is a national holiday in Oman due to the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday. Enjoy the long weekend with your families and we will see everyone back rested and refreshed on Monday, October 10. Maeve
