This week we began our Unit of Inquiry “Who We Are.” We defined traits and discussed admirable traits as we analyzed the character Jed to find what traits he embodied in the story “Uncle Jedidiah’s Barbershop.” We discussed the concept key of Form as well.
Students took their first spelling test this week. I could see much improvement on Thursday’s test as compared to the Pretest we took on Sunday. Many of the students are struggling with spelling, and in particular the usage of long vowel sounds when writing so please encourage your student to do the spelling activities to help them be successful on our spelling tests. This will improve their overall reading and writing.
In Math, students began working on a very artistic place value project called “Name My Number” where they used circles to represent place value and worked on expressing place values in various forms. Please give your student extra practice at home writing number words from 0-999. Give them a number and see if they can write it in English correctly.
