Greetings from your new G5 homeroom teacher Andrew Wetzel 🙂
I’m here with my wife, Chie, a Japanese citizen, and our daughter, Luna, a dual citizen of the US and Japan, which means that ‘home’ is time spent with family and friends in the US and Japan. When all is said and done, my roots are deep as an Angelino because I’m a lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Viva Los Doyers! Throughout the past three years, we’ve spent most of our time on breaks and holidays in the US due to restrictions. I’m excited to travel back to Japan as soon as that becomes available.
Our last post prior to joining ABIS was in Sudan at Khartoum International Community School or, more affectionately known as KICS. I’ve learnt that a few former ABIS faculty are now there; it’s quite an exchange between these two organizations. Prior to that we spent our time in posts at schools in China and Japan. No matter where we are we try to stay active by walking, hiking, running, trail running, backpacking, and trekking.
This year represents my sixth time leading a G5 learning community. (I believe that this my seventeenth year in education. Gasp!) Additionally, I have experience as a homeroom teacher from with students from KG to G6 and school-wide language and learning support. If you had me choose what subject I enjoy teaching most, I couldn’t really tell you because I love learning innovative ways to teach all subjects.
Last but not least, during some slower times I love watching Star Wars content. May the Force Be With You!
