Hello everyone,
It’s been another busy week in G5.
In Language we have been practising our debating and presenting skills by playing the role of different stakeholders in the banana trade. There was a huge improvement in both skills and confidence in speaking in front of an audience from the previous week. Also students have been choosing an issue to use in persuasive arguments. As teams we have chosen 3: Should we have class pets? Mobiles in primary? and Football at lunchtime? We are excited to see how detailed research and persuasive skills build convincing arguments both for and against each issue. In Mathematics we have completed our inquiry into measure and launched the start of 2D & 3D shape. We are looking forward to using this knowledge in some S.T.E.A.M projects next week. In Unit we looked at the impact growing palm oil has on the many stakeholders, animals and the environment.
In advisory we have been preparing for next week’s Community Council book week celebrations. The G5 students have already prepared their “Dress as a Word” for Sunday, their book and team for “D.E.A.R. ” (Drop Everything And Read) on Monday, their “Genre Hat” for Tuesday and have brainstormed ideas for their Wednesday book character. These are the days planned for the week a quick reminder :
Sunday: Dress as a word
Monday: Whole school will read for 25 minutes after AM break
Tuesday: Genre Hat Day – Your hat represents a book genre, for example a hat with question marks on it represents mystery
Wednesday: Dress as a book character
Thursday: Primary – will find results from the favourite genre voting done all week
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend
G5 Teaching Team
