Hello Everyone,
Grade 5 have had a wonderful week celebrating Oman Week.
We can dressed in Omani dishdasha and dresses and the colours of the Omani flag. We played Omani games every morning (Ambar and Bydhah). We created many fabulous pieces of art: tessellating patterns, canvas stencils, PopArt and finished off the week showing of our Arabic writing to display the 99 names of Allah. All our work is now displayed in the ABIS “Museum of Oman,” in LC3.
We also managed to start our new Mathematics inquiry into length and have been busy converting mm, cm, m and kms. We have also been exploring body length proportions inspired by the work of Roman architect Vitruvius and Italian mathematician DaVinci.
We ended the week with the tradition of Qaranqasho. The students had to visit “houses” in our classroom and sing to the house owner to collect sweets. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the families that sent in food to share. The childen were so appreciative.
We hope you have a great weekend and would like to offer a school wide invitation to dress in Omani clothing for next week so that both Primary and Secondary are doing so on the same day.
Have a wonderful weekend
