In chemistry, we have been concluding our unit on “bonding” by looking at the interesting way that metals behave. They manage to pack together their positively charged nuclei into such close proximity! How do they manage that? And how can melting two soft metals together make a hard alloy?
In class this week we took some copper coins and turned them into brass by alloy ring them with zinc. Here are the coins before and after.
