Grade 11 History students have recently begun a new unit on Authoritarian States.  This unit will include two in-depth case studies: Fidel Castro in Cuba and Mao Zedong in China.  This topic is assessed as part of Paper 2.  During the unit students will explore a number of themes including ways in which authoritarian leaders consolidate and maintain power and the efficacy of the policies they implement.  Ultimately, we will evaluate and compare the extent to which authoritarian control was achieved in each case study.  We will also practice and unpack a variety of strategies for successful written analysis in DP History.  I continue to appreciate the hard work and commitment that Grade 11 students have shown in class this year.  Please encourage your child to keep up the good work!
