While Grade 5 finishes their time online, it is difficult to practice instruments as a group. So for the time being, we are working on the basics of Music Theory. The students have been learning how to count and subdivide rhythms (the equivalent of fractions with sound) and now we are beginning our introductions on how to identify pitches on a staff. With these skills, students can read, understand, and play music from cultures all over the world, and throughout history. Once the students return to campus, we will take our fledgling knowledge of Theory and apply it to performing the new instruments. Keep up the good work grade 5!
